LEADERSHIP
Dominic founded Independent Design Architects in 2013 and brings nearly 18 years of experience designing a variety of building typologies. He has a passion for exploration throughout the design process, from clear conceptual planning to final detailing. From 2011 to 2013, Dominic worked at Shears Adkins + Rockmore (SA+R) in Denver, focusing primarily on multi-family and mixed-use infill buildings. Prior to joining SA+R, from 2003 to 2011, he worked for Swanke Hayden Connell Architects (SHCA) in their New York City and London offices. At SHCA, Dominic gained experience working on all phases of residential and commercial towers, K-12 schools, and master planning projects. He has designed projects throughout the US including New York City, Chicago, Detroit and Denver as well as internationally in Russia, Germany, China and the United Kingdom. In 2019, Dominic accepted the AIA Chicago Chapter Small Projects 'Honor Award' and the 'Award of Honor' from the Society of American Registered Architects in New York for his work on the Detroit Shipping Company project. Dominic received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and his Master of Architecture degree from Syracuse University. He is LEED accredited and licensed to practice in Illinois, Michigan, New York and Colorado.
